You
can navigate on the first general geometrical map of the French Kingdom, and
you can also superimpose the present map ("Map" mode). With a small
tool, it is possible to adjust the transparency of both maps (3 levels) and
observe the evolutions of the topography of the country since 250 years. With
the "Satellite" mode, you may add the Google Satellite data.
Concerning Belle-Ile:
Here is a map drawn by Jean de Beaurin in 1761: you may observe its unusual orientation. This map has been digitized and is available on the website of the "Bibliothèque Nationale de France". This detailed map will allow you to find the old names of the villages and places of Belle-Ile. |
