Between the "Grand Guet" foreland and Goulphar, the Wild Coast of Belle-Ile is particularily indented. It is one of the most beautiful parts of the Wild Coast of Belle-Ile, with some beautiful sea caves (Cormorant cave, Vaz Yod island, Ru Er Vraz cave, Star cave, etc.).
The most famous site, painted at many occasions by Claude Monet in 1886, is the site of Port-Coton needles. Monet was fascinated by these landscapes of the Wild Coast and described them as follows: "it is sinister, diabolical but superb and I do not think that I may find something like that elsewhere".
Goulphar, it is also the "Grand Phare", 52 metres above the ground and 92 metres above the sea level. it is one of the most powerful lighthouses of France. From the top of the "Grand Phare", the lansdcape of Belle-Ile is magnificent: here are some views.
